“If you take out uncovered meat and place it outside… and the cats come and eat it… whose fault is it, the cats’ or the uncovered meat?”
 BUT,…
“If she was in her room, in her home, in her hijab [headscarf], no problem would have occurred,” Quoting Sheik Taj el Din al Hilaly referring not to a lamb or pork chop but a woman.
The leading australian muslim cleric has been accused of blaming ‘inappropriately dressed’ women for attracting sexual assaults.
With his ridiculous and outrageous statements he caused quite a roar and criticism worldwide.
Despite his appologies the cleric has now been suspended from preaching for up to 3 months. Mosque Association president Tom Zreika said the board was “basically satisfied with the notion that certain statements made by the mufti [were] misrepresented. We felt the three months away would give him time to mull over what’s been said”.
Sheikh Hilaly has courted controversy in the past, claiming in a 2004 sermon that the September 2001 attacks in the United States had been “God’s work against oppressors”. A lot of people however feel that more drastic steps should have been taken. Like Deportation.
