More science stuff: Really really interesting, I’m always amazed at the power and complexity of the brain…I find it really fascinating to read about all the magical things that go on while we’re asleep… processing information into long term memory for instance.

Science News has yet another great article about research on slumbering rats that sheds light on how the brain processes its recent experiences into long-term memories.

The experiment suggests that the brain creates such memories by ‘playing back’ the day’s events several times faster than they actually happened.

Like fast forwarding… but there’s more:

It also shows that the brain is quicker at re-running these events than it is at actually performing them.
