TV Ad Banned In Britain: "Offensive To Christians"
The “new religion for here” is gone from the television screens… A supposed highly offensive advertising by the GHD hair products has been banned after a dozen complaints, including one from the Archdeacon of Liverpool.
The advert for hair straighteners used religious imagery like rosary beads, votive candles and the letter “T” in a font that made it resemble the cross of Jesus and the phrase “thy will be done” as well as “ghd, a new religion for hair”
Although the GHD has been using the ” a new religion for hair” for seven years without previous criticism, Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) now claims that the erotic nature of the tv ad broke television standards.
