Yahoo Buzzing, To Take Out Digg? Luring Publishers Into Their Ad Network
Yahoo Buzz, by the looks of it, intended to be a competitor to Digg, launched in February.
It ranks stories based on popularity and user voting. Still limited to about 100 publishers, Yahoo Buzz is set to open to the whole of Yahoo’s publisher network by summer.
Meaning if you are hooked up with Yahoo adverts in your site, it will allow your stories to appear on Buzz.
Some are already seeing immense traffic from the Buzz, such as Techcrunch, Salon, or the US Weekly. After placing links to their sites on Yahoo’s homepage, the traffic waves were rolling.
“It’s clear that a link from Yahoo.com blows away anything Digg or any other competitor can offer,” says Techcrunch.
With Yahoo trying to hop back onto the advertising bandwagon, will Digg be dugg and buried soon?
