Daily, weekly? Not surprising that with the daily increase of information being pumped into the world wide web, we’re curious, more than ever, what Google has to say about us… or colleagues…or ex-boyfriends.

According to the Pew Internet and American Life Project, 47% of U.S. adult Internet users have looked up information about themselves through search engines like Google.

The figures have doubled since 2002, but is it really that surprising? Our personal lives become digitalised and surely we all want to know what’s being passed around the cyberspace about us.

About 60 percent of Internet users said they aren’t worried about the extent of information about themselves online, despite increasing concern over how that data can be used.

Although men and women equally searched for online information about themselves, women were slightly more likely to look up information about someone they are dating.

“Blind dates” are so in the past.
