Chatting Away: Instantbird

Another IM application is out, if anyone cares… called Instantbird and it’s supposedly the Firefox of instant messengers. Of course I had to try it out immediately. The free, open source messenger is based on the same tools used to build Firefox and Thunderbird, both fantastic applications IMO, so hopes are high.
The project is just on its first release so it is and looks pretty basic at the moment but the upcoming features look promising.
What can it do?
It connects to virtually any IM service and includes video and voice support and also supports a tabbed chat interface.
