The Turning Of An Atheist

The name Antony Flew probably doesn’t tell you anything, I had no idea who he was. If you are a commited atheist though you may know who he is. Before the current popular atheist authors such as Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, Christopher Hitchens, there was Antony Flew.

Flew argues that “God” is too vague a concept to be meaningful. For if God’s greatness entails being invisible, intangible and inscrutable, then he can’t be disproved — but nor can he be proved. Statements like these made him famous.

But now it looks like he has changed his mind about God: “There Is a God: How the World’s Most Notorious Atheist Changed His Mind,” a book attributed to Flew and a co-author, the Christian apologist Roy Abraham Varghese, has just been released.

The title says it all… Flew’s conversion will certainly not go un-noticed within the atheist communities of this world. He is now aged 84 and one might think that this has something to do with the fact that we can’t stop time and everyday is a day closer to our death. Old man scared of death? Possible.  I guess as you get older you spend more time thinking about death and it wouldn’t be unusual to turn to religion to find some sort of comfort.
