New Antibiotics From Alligators

Alligators are fascinating creatures I think. Even more fascinating now that researchers at McNeese State University in Louisiana have found out that the critters might be used to make new anti-biotics.

There’s all sorts of medication being made from deadly animals I guess, so why should they be any different? Apparently there’s a protein in their blood which could be used to provide new antibiotics for the treatment of diabetic ulcers, severe burns and antibiotic resistant “superbugs.”

I have never actually seen a crocodile for real but I’m sure it would be amazing. Unlike many other people, I don’t think that they’re scary. I find them rather beautiful and obviously useful.
